Star Rating:

=  YELLOW STAR READ- Outstanding in every way. I loved this book, couldn't put it down and couldn't get over it, had a massive book hangover
and want to own a signed copy!

= A light read that I really enjoyed and would recommend, made me smile.

= 3.5 stars is for a book that was "above average," though not perfect for me. This is a good, solid rating but perhaps there was some skimming involved or editing
could have been better.

And just lastly...

New indie authors I think this goes without saying but if you are self publishing your debut novel you want to give it your best shot the first time round. The indie romance world is such a saturated marketplace that its important you give yourself every chance at success. You would be so surprised at how many half-assed submissions I receive and I just want to reach through my computer screen and shake that person and as result I immediately decline their submission, it screams "I cant be bothered" so why should I be bothered reading it, right?

Here are some tidbits of advice from a blogger to an unpublished indie author :

* Find trusted beta readers (especially members of your target audience)for honest feedback... and listen to them!

* Make sure your book is edited well. Not by your friend or mother but by a professional. A good editor will make your words shine. Learn your craft well and always strive to learn and improve your technique.

*Invest in a great cover, its all in the packaging. This is your hard work, don't sell yourself short with poorly lit, amateurish images of your semi-good looking mates wearing wigs (I cant tell you how many times I have received those). If it looks professional and well thought out it will have more cut-through.

* PIMP PIMP PIMP. Do all the preliminary work before you publish your book! When you contact bloggers make sure you provide all the information about yourself and about your book
not just "Hi do wanna read my book please?"
Alternatively there are many bloggers who also have PR divisions, if this isn't a strong point for you then leave it to the experts.

Finally Be patient & don't rush! upon finishing your final manuscript put it aside for a few weeks and read it again later with fresh eyes!
